Why is social psychology important to you?

The study of psychology, in general, is important because it gives us a better understanding of our minds and mental processes. More specifically, social psychology is the science behind people interacting with others. It explains people’s behavior and decisions and mental processes while interacting or being around others. Social psychology experiments can gather information to be used for many different purposes, like to figure our how people will react to situations in the real world, or how they react in made-up situations. Both of which give us a better understanding of why humans make the decisions that they do.

Humans are always interacting, weather they know it or not. On a daily basis, people are interacting with the environment, friends, family, online communities, even people that they do not interact with can be used to find out why they chose to not interact with. For me, the study of social psychology means a better understanding of the world and it is why I chose to do my senior project on it, as well as study it in the future.
