Blog 1: 2-Hour Presentations

1: I viewed the following 2-hour presentations:

  • Criminology

  • Teaching 1st Grade
  • EMT (First Aid)
  • Beauty Salon
  • Microbiology
  • HIV
  • Bakery
  • Culinary Arts
  • Cancer Advocacy
  • Advertising
  • Marriage & Family Therapy
  • Cake Decorating
  • Counseling
2. I wasn't left with questions about the project itself because my sister had done the project before, and explained it to me thoroughly. She was accurate, and viewing these projects only confirmed what she had said. Also, I didn't have any questions about any of the individual topics because I believe they were presented well enough were any possible questions were answered, and if not there was time at the end for us to all ask them anyway.

3. Based on the presentations, I realized that the project is really based on the essential question you've created for yourself, and what you think the best answer is. Its also important that you explain how you got to that best answer thought the presentation.

4. I'm considering doing a presentation on some aspect of psychology. I haven't been able to narrow it down much because it, in itself, is a broad subject and has so many possible ways to go about it that I am just as interested in. I'm thinking something more along the lined of studying human interaction and what drives or motivates people to do the things they do as well as act the way they do. This is a topic I'd like to present on because it is something I would like to further pursue as a possible career path and psychology is something I would like to major in while attending a university. This project would be my opportunity to make myself even more familiar with the topic to be sure that it is something I'd like to pursue a future in.

5. I haven't decided upon a summer mentorship because of the fact that it is incredibly hard to find someone in a branch of psychology and one that is willing to let me sit in and be trusted with case studies or things of that nature. I do wish to pursue something in a higher level of work such as psychology professors, but I haven't been able to contact any and many are too busy to give me the amount of hours necessary. However, this is my ideal mentorship for the summer.
