Graciela Claire(626) 824-4306
3.What questions were raised because of the 10 hours of experience?
- How do you determine what teaching styles will benefit the students best?
- What is the best way to incorporate the newly introduced standards to existing course work.
- Is the new common core doing more harm than good for such young students?
- What is the best way to encourage the students to engage in the material?
4. What is the most important thing you gained from this experience? Why?
The most important thing I gained from this experience of working in a classroom was the ability to understand the different methods of teaching and how they impact people. This was really important because it is the foundation of all teaching and understanding this would create a better learning environment for students and produce effective learners.
5. What is your senior project topic going to be? How did what you did help you choose a topic?
I decided to pursue a mentor who works teaching children because their work is very closely related to psychology that I was unsure if I wanted to pursue. Completing my 10 hours in the classroom helped me decide that I did not wish to focus on teaching children, but understanding people's decisions and the way they interact and absorb and process information. After much research, I came to the conclusion that social psychology would better suit my interest. Learning this was an important set to get me on the right track to the topic that was right for me, which I have decided is social psychology. This is defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary as "Branch of psychology concerned with the individual or group in the context of social interaction..."
